La Brea Tar Pits

I took a couple of my Animal Drawing students up to the La Brea Tar Pits for some on-site fossil sketching.  Luckily the museum was free that day!  All I had to pay for was the parking-not bad!

The top three images were drawn with a Pigma brush pen and Tombo marker.

The bottom two screenshots are from my Life Drawing sketchbook.  On top are some of the sketches I drew with my Animal Drawing class at the LA Natural History Museum.  The bottom one is a bunch of notes I jotted down about animal structures from Calderon's Animal Painting and Anatomy book.
