Illustration Friday: Launch
When I saw that "launch" was word of the week first thing I thought of was humanity's first attempts at flight and how most of them ended in spectacular crashes. I've drawn my own version of a historical attempt using a Canadian goose and pigeons. In theory the birds would flap their wings and off you'd fly amongst the clouds. How does this launch into the air end? Let's say the birds lived to tell the tale.
One more note: I drew the pigeons with their wings closed because they are really stupid birds I don't imagine they would flap their wings until moments before impact.
Drawn with brush & ink. Colored in Photoshop. Click to view at actual size.

Illus Friday - Climbing

Click image to enlarge to full awesomeness.
Drawn and colored in Photoshop. I pulled the background from Google (sorry I don't remember what website is was). The rock texture I created from a tutorial.
Yep yep yep. This IS what it looks like. I just finished a marathon of Jackass and Reno 911 episodes so my sense of humor is currently on par with a second grader. Regardless if I get a small chuckle then "mission accomplished."

Illus Friday-Similar

This is a panel from an unpublished comic I worked on last year. It featured twins which (surprise! surprise!) are similar! :P

Illus Friday-Late

Yeaaaaaaah...I don't have time this week to color in my lineart. Therefore I will go with pencils FTW!!!
P.S. That is a fox and not a cat that is about to get thrashed by the dog. ;)
P.P.S. Those are amazing performing chickens that are able to perform feats of acrobatics right out of the shell. They also taste good in omelets.

Illus Friday-Clique

Drawn in pen and colored in Photoshop.
Hydras by default form their own clique. It also looks like they're telling one heck of a joke.

Illus Friday-Sail

Just a doodle this week....click on the image to full-view.
This is the giant fish island of Lik from South American mythology. Lik likes to swim in rivers and lakes and will sometimes pick up annoying kids and tigers who are too lazy to walk. (I made that last part up...teeheehee)

Illus Friday-Punchline

Here's the chicken and the road...source for a whole slew of punchlines.
This was drawn in pencil on the cardboard back from an old sketchpad and then painted in acrylics.
P.S. The background is referenced from a photo I took outside of Ludlow, California.

IF-Discovery Sketch

This sketch is for Illustration Friday - Discovery. The final will be painted in watercolor.
This is loosely based off of the J.W. Waterhouse painting "Psyche opening the Golden Box."

Illus Friday - Polar Sketch

Drawn in pen.
This is my preliminary sketch for Illustration Friday - "Polar." I'm planning on creating the bear shape by collaging blue paper in the background then painting in the bear nose, eyes, and fish. Since the bear form is literally being formed by the negative shape around him, I'd thought you'd be able to see through his form and glimpse the fish in his stomach. I don't think the sketch reads that way, but I'll paint the fish toned-down to suggest they are inside the bear and not floating on top. I'm also going to paint in the type, just to get some practice handling lettering. This illustration should go pretty fast, so I'll post a link to the finished pic either Saturday or Sunday.
4/22 EDIT: Finished pic viewable here.
Yep, it's alittle different from my sketch. I didn't think the fish would read as I intended so I dropped them. But that's cool, I like the finished pic. :D
